Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik Inaugurates Kalamboli to Vashi pipelines work
The first glimpses of the water promise made by Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik could be seen coming seen coming true as he performed the inaugural ceremony of the Kalamboli to Vashi water pipeline work. The Minister welcomed the role of the media for making work happen efficiently on the occasion.
For those who were praying that the city be given relief from the weekend water crisis – there is good news. The Kalamboli to Vashi section of the Kalamboli to Digha pipeline work was officially made functional in a small ceremony at the hands of Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik. He said that Morbe Dam became an example in the state assembly and in the coming few months, not only will the dam supply water to residents 24 X 7 but will also generate revenue by sale of excess water. The Minister especially appreciated the role of the media in bringing up issues of the people to the forefront that helped make a system function better. The proposed bus service for school students will be started as per demand of students and parents within NMMC area and upto 20 kms beyond NMMC jurisdiction, subject to a minimum of 60 students from schools on each route. Each student will be charged Rs 100 in addition to the bus far for the independent bus service for students only. Another report coming in from NMMC is that, NMMC Standing Committee Chairman Sandeep Naik has called upon the administration to submit a status report of the social amenity proposals made by corporators. Civic Budget crosses Rs.1000 Cr mark proposal by Sandeep Naik.
Presenting the first ever over Rs.1000 crore civic budgets Municipal Commissioner Vijay Nahata announced a slew of developments projects on February 13, Mr. Nahata handed over a copy of the 2008-09 NMMC Budget Proposals to the Standing Committee Chairman Sandeep Naik.
The good news is that citizens have been spared of any tax hike, with the stress on all round city development k eeping in mind the increasing population.
NMMC expects to earn a total income of Rs. 1297.01 crore in the coming Fiscal. This includes and envisaged cess income of Rs. 225.03 crore (constituting 17.35% of the total expected income), property tax income of Rs. 161.32 crore (12.44%), development charges income of Rs 56 Crore (4.32%)....

Many of the storm water drains in Vashi and Koperkhairane were cleaned by NMMC. The work has been started as a part of the pre monsoon work of NMMC.

News buildings under school vision but security is missing
The NMMC has redeveloped municipal school buildings across the city under its “School Vision” but absence of security might result in draining public funds in the near future. The concern surfaced after this week’s Standing Committee meet.

MLA Ganesh Naik announced , “Practice examination for Marathi medium SSC students”
With an objective to eliminate the examination fear among students appearing for the forthcoming SSC board examination and to develop confidence within them, Navi Mumbai Shikshan Sankul, in coordination with the NCP, conducted a practice examination in the month of December, especially for the Marathi medium schools.
The innovative practice examination concept of NCP corporator Anant Sutar received an overwhelming response from 48 schools and more than 8,000 students had appeared for the exam, which were conducted at 10 centres across the city.
The results were declared on January 30, and meritorious students from each of the 10 centres were felicitated by the hands of MP and Rajya Sabha member Supriya Sule at a grand function held at Vishnudas Bhave auditorium in Vashi.
The top three students in the city were Nilima Khaire of Vivekanand High School, Sanpada, who topped the merit list by scoring 92.30 percent, Harshal Ahire of MGM High School, Nerul, stood second with 91.53 percent and Reshma Hussain Shaikh made it to the third position by securing.....

Relief for Yadavnagar residents as standing committee sanction’s three proposals for toilets
The NMMC has floated the proposal of constructing two public toilets in Yadavnagar of Airoli for nearly Rs. 50 lacs. To find out how necessary this civic work, Monika Bhosale traveled to Yadavnagar for an investigative report and found out that equally important is for NMMC to float the proposal of a municipal school at the earliest.
The locals are however happy ever since the NMMC Standing Committee approved the bid of Yashraj Infrastructure to re- construct three toilets at the cost of Rs. 77 lacs 35 thousand 959. The three new toilets will come as a major relief to the locals and will solve one of their most burning issues. Standing Committee Chairman Sandeep Naik informed that while the toilets are needed, he has ordered the administration to take up the work for a school too at the earliest.

Guardian Ganesh Naik takes up cause of Vashi home owners
Thane District Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik has agreed to intervene and find an amicable solution to the burning issue of illegal extensions in row houses of sector 6, 7 and 8 in Vashi. The decision came after some residents approached the minister for help. Naik is expected to hold a meeting with both aggrieved residents of the row houses and officials of the NMMC in the next two days to resolve the matter, sources confirmed.
This has brought some relief to residents of these row houses who have been spending sleepless nights ever since NMMC began the survey and started issuing notices to families, who had extended their properties.

The NMMC Standing Committee approved the last phase of work inside condominiums worth nearly Rs. 37 Crore this week.
Approvals of nearly Rs. 33 Crore for executing work inside condominiums is going to bring major relief to apartments owners living in unhygienic and pathetic environs within CIDCO condominiums. The biggest issue of CIDCO condominiums is the decade’s old sewerage and water pipelines. Most residents living within condominiums hail from economically weaker background and could not carry out timely repair and maintenance work. And the increasing population only aggravated these civic issues. Since, NMMC did not have a policy in place to spend funds inside CIDCO condominiums, the conditions of water and sewerage pipelines became worse by the day, raising grave health issues for residents. In wake of the gravity of the issue, Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik followed up the matter with the Chief Minister’s office and finally got a policy in place that permitted NMMC to carry out civic work inside condominiums.

Election code of conduct makes it a pre-poll extravaganza in NMMC
With the election code of conduct looming large, the ruling front of NMMC is in the rush to clear pending proposals. This was evident as back to back to Standing Committee meetings were held this week on two consecutive days. The Standing Committee cleared over 60 proposals on the agenda, sanctioning civic projects worth over Rs 15.5 Crore.
Besides this the Standing Committee approved 28 administrative proposals that show an estimated budget of Rs. 5 Crore 80 Lacs 13 Thousand 948 for various public work. After the two marathon meetings and evident rush to clear proposals of corporators before the election code of conduct, Standing Committee Chairman Sandeep Naik said that they just want to ensure that public work is not hampered during election period.

Many flock Bhavkaleshwar temple to wish Thane Guardian minister Ganesh Naik

Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik as the NCP candidate for the Balapur constituency
The Belapur seat fell in NCP’s kitty as the Congress leaders had no credibility and credentials to impress the high commands in terms of voters or work done in comparison to Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik. Even if one were to go by numbers in the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation ,the NCP has 31 seats while the Congress has just 4. Sanjeev Naik has a lead of over 19000 votes in Belapur against his nearest Shiv Sena rival Vijay Chougule and over 14000 votes in Airoli. NMMC Standing Committee approved the bid of Yashraj Infrastructure to re- construct three toilets
Another problem that haunts the Yadavnagar slums is filth and dirt so much that it’s difficult to imagine how humans can live here. Filth from gutters borders the entrance of settlements and even pigs can be seen moving around. Locals say that at times pigs directly enter their homes. there is an urgent need to construct the toilets here as locals, including women and children have to climb hills to attend natures’ calls. Women shared how going is difficult when there are men leering at them. And like most NMMC toilets, even the existing ones have become victims of ill maintenance.
The locals are however happy ever since the NMMC Standing Committee approved the bid of Yashraj Infrastructure to re- construct three toilets at the cost of Rs. 77 lacs 35 thousand 959. The three new toilets will come as a major relief to the locals and will solve one of their most burning issues. Standing Committee Chairman Sandeep Naik informed that while the toilets are needed, he has ordered the administration to take up the work for a school too at the earliest.

150 acres of water body to be beautified into recreational space at Nerul holding pond
To the delight of Navi Mumbaikars, the satellite city is soon going to be gifted with an entertainment and recreational centre at the water body at sector 26 of Nerul. The NMMC General Body approved the estimated expenditure of Rs 98.40 crores for beautification of this holding pond adjacent to the Palm Beach Road.
This one would definitely account for that as they plan to give the structure a crystal kind of look and would be calling it the Jewel of Navi Mumbai. The proposed beautification plan includes an entrance plaza, parking facility, toilets, walkways, jogging track, food plaza, exhibition ground, gymnasium, swimming pool, health spa, indoor games facility, hotel, party lawn, aquarium, sand pit, butterfly garden, botanical garden, picnic park and gardens.
The unique feature and the main tourist attraction is likely to be the bailagio which works on the fire on water concept. While the work on the basic infrastructure would be done in the first phase, the beautification of the water body is proposed to be done through the Public Private Partnership. Standing Committee Chairman Sandeep Naik voiced confidence of the work that Hiten Sethi will do and says that since the project will be made on PPP basis, it would also generate revenue for NMMC.

The Naiks' main poll plank was development, with father and son repeatedly citing the Morbe Dam as a major achievement and promising more along the same lines.
Other much-touted achievements include the 14-km ThaneBelapur Road Project, the only highway in the state on which no toll is levied, and the introduction of Volvo and CNG buses for public transport.
The NMMC is also planning to earn carbon credit by reducing methane gas emissions and converting garbage into fuel and fertiliser.
As for the future, the Naiks have promised an independent power generation project to ensure 24-hour power supply to the city.
Other promises include more vertical growth, especially for dilapidated buildings and no increase in taxes.
The purchase of Morbe has made the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation -- where the NCP is in power too -- the first in the country to own its own dam.

Ganesh Naik said that the voters of Navi Mumbai have proven that he is after all the people’s candidate. On the other hand all did not seem well in the Airoli constituency when the voting began.
Only when counting of votes began from Koperkhairane and reached to sectors of Vashi and Turbhe, did Sandeep Naik overtake the saffron candidate and at the end of the 23 rounds of counting emerged as the winner with a lead of 11957 votes. The total votes that Sandeep Naik garnered were 79075 as against the 67118 garnered by Vijay Chougule. Sandeep Naik duo clean sweep in Navi Mumbai
In what seemed like a neck-to-neck fight in the first 15 rounds of counting, the battle tilted heavily in favour of NMMC standing committee chairman Sandeep Naik. In the remaining eight rounds towards the end, Chougule suffered serious setbacks in Bonkode, Kopar Khairne and large parts of Vashi.
Chougule, at one point, saw a lead of 2200 votes against Naik when votes from Airoli were being counted. In the end, however, out of the total of 1, 57,751 valid votes cast in the constituency, Naik got a lead of 11,957 votes. Naik got 79,075 votes while Chougule managed 67,118.
When asked the reason for not securing a good number of votes from Airoli, Sandeep said, "All party workers have worked equally hard in all places. It is just natural that some people have a stronghold in certain areas. But since a majority of voters have shown trust in me, I will try to win over the rest of them too," Sandeep said.

Men, women, and children, participated in this karseva as service to the community, cook food and distribute it in the 'Guru ka Langar', with the traditional 'Karah Prasad'. The Sikhs also visit gurudwaras where special programs are arranged and religious songs are sung in praise of guru nanak.
